TLCC News Summary 2014

Happy Holidays! The final meeting of 2014, the annual holiday party, has been completed!

New Show Location! Beginning in 2015, TLCC semi-annual coin shows will be held at the Tacoma Elks Lodge #174, 2013 S. Cedar St., Tacoma, WA. Dave Schmidt's coin shows also take place at the same location, beginning with The Holiday Coin Show on November 22, 2014.

New Meeting Location! Beginning in February 2015, TLCC regular monthly meetings are also held at the Tacoma Elks Lodge #174, 2013 S. Cedar St., Tacoma, WA. In addition, these meetings will be on the 2nd Tuesday of each month rather than the 1st Tuesday.

TLCC coin shows! 2014 was another big year for TLCC coin shows!!

  • TACOMA-LAKEWOOD COIN CLUB 51st SEMI-ANNUAL SHOW, March 8-9, 2014, King Oscar Convention Center, Tacoma, WA.

  • TACOMA-LAKEWOOD COIN CLUB 52nd SEMI-ANNUAL SHOW, August 23-24, 2014, Tacoma Hotel-Motel (formerly King Oscar) Convention Center, Tacoma, WA.

2014 Meeting Programs:

The December 2, 2014 meeting featured the annual holiday party (Holiday Feast or Extravaganza by Mike and Bonnie Zagorin); also raffle drawings and club elections.

At the November 4, 2014 meeting, Dan Duncan (photo at left), co-owner of Pinnacle Rarities, gave one of his always-interesting presentations!

At the October 7, 2014 meeting, Tom Sparks, founder of the Short Snorter Project (www.shortsnorter.org), spoke about, you guessed it, "Short Snorters."

The September 2, 2014 meeting featured coin show reports: Steve Roggow on the Baltimore show and his New York experience; Dave Schmidt on the ANA World's Fair of Money in Chicago/Rosemont, Illinois.

At the August 5, 2014 meeting, guest speaker Bill McKivor gave a presentation on "Emperor Norton" of San Francisco. And if you attended the meeting, you know the emperor was quite a character!

At the June 3, 2014 meeting, Mike Zagorin (photo at left) spoke about the "History of the Blue Book" along with a look at his collection.

The May 6, 2014 meeting featured an "Expanded Show & Tell, with a May theme suggested."

At the April 1, 2014 meeting, Todd Hughes explained "Bitcoins," part 2.

At the March 4, 2014 meeting, Todd Hughes explained "Bitcoins," part 1.

At the February 4, 2014 meeting, Tim Ziebarth spoke about "Foreign Coins Manufactured in U.S. Mints."

The January 7, 2014 meeting featured a coin grading seminar. Members and guests were asked
to bring three coins to grade. There was no other "show & tell."
