Seasons Greetings, and we'll see you again at our meetings and coin shows in 2009! The TACOMA-LAKEWOOD COIN CLUB 40TH SEMI-ANNUAL SHOW was held the weekend of October 25-26, 2008, and the club's fall meeting schedule was well underway (see below). The TLCC received its 50-year ANA membership plaque at the ANA World’s Fair of Money® in Baltimore (July 30-August 3). Eric Holcomb received the plaque on behalf of the club, and will add a photo of the plaque to the memorabilia catalog. Note: The PNNA History section has reports on some past PNNA and ANA events, including the ANA WFOM shows and the annual PNNA conventions. Bigger Show! Puget Sound Area Collectors – Hope you didn't miss the PNNA Convention the weekend of April 4-6, 2008 in Tukwila, Washington. Over 80 dealers were set up at this event, and a number of TLCC members were there! Coin Show! TACOMA-LAKEWOOD COIN CLUB 39TH SEMI-ANNUAL SHOW – The TLCC's 39th Semi-Annual Coin Show was held March 8-9, 2008 at the King Oscar Convention Center in South Tacoma. We also had our annual banquet the evening of the 8th at the Tacoma Elks. |

Thanks to two of our summer grant recipients, Gary Wilson and Rick Schulz, for reporting at the November 4 meeting on their experiences traveling to Toronto, Ontario Canada to attend the Torex® Coin Show. Thanks to Gary Willson for speaking on "The History and Treasure of the El Cazador" (a Spanish galleon loaded with silver coins headed for New Orleans) at the October 7 club meeting. "Interesting stuff," in the words of editor Rick Schulz.
We hope everyone enjoyed their summer! The TLCC had its annual dessert social in July, and resumed its regular monthly meetings August 5. Thanks to Scott and Lisa Loos for speaking about "world coins" and other subjects at the June 3 TLCC meeting. Thanks to Loren Lawrence, Ron Ahre and Todd Hughes for the May 6 meeting program, "ANA convention" and "Coins in the Classroom" reports.
Thanks to Rick Schulz for speaking on the topic of "State Tax Tokens" at the March 4 meeting. Although we unfortunately didn't have time to show the ANA video on Grading Mint State U.S. Coins at the February 5 TLCC meeting, TLCC members can still borrow the video from the club library.
