When (and how) was the TLCC logo created?

The current TLCC logo, shown above, and depicting the Tacoma Dome with Mt. Rainier in the background, was created when the original Tacoma and Lakewood Center clubs merged in 1988. Since computer graphics was still in its early stages back then, the logo was hand-drawn and lettered using stencils. Norm Mikat and Eric Holcomb collaborated on this activity.

What logo was used by the original Tacoma Coin Club?

The original TCC logo, dating back to at least 1959, is depicted on the banner at the top of this page, and on many of the wooden nickels in the memorabilia gallery (catalog). It shows the Tacoma Narrows Bridge with a coin rising as the sun over Mt. Rainier.

What about the 50th anniversary medal?

The more detailed version of the TLCC logo on the medal, also depicted on the banner at the top of this page, was created (and the medal manufactured by) Northwest Territorial Mint. The TLCC purchased the rights to this medal design, and you can use a high-quality image of the obverse of the medal as an alternative to the standard logo if desired.

Can club members use the TLCC logo?

TLCC members may use the TLCC logo on business cards and letterheads (and now on digital communications such as emails and websites), provided that the member signs a statement of intent to adhere to the ANA code of ethics. Members wishing to use the logo should write to info@tlcc.info to apply for permission and artwork. No permission is required to use such simple statements as “TLCC #104” or “member TLCC,” and it’s suggested that one of these statements should appear under the logo (when used).
